Location
Costa del Sol, on Cozumel's quiet south-west shore
Costa del Sol is a gated community of single-family villas directly on the water, about 20 minutes south of San Miguel de Cozumel. Reef out front, jungle behind, and no cruise crowds.
The Costa del Sol community from the air — the villas sit one row back from the shoreline.
What is around you
Cozumel splits neatly in two. The west coast is calm, sheltered and lined with reefs; the east coast faces the open Caribbean with wild surf and almost no development. Town, the ferry and the cruise terminals sit on the north-west corner.
Casa Dana is on the west coast but well south of all of that — far enough that the noise and the traffic never reach you, close enough that you can be at a beach club, a dive shop or a supermarket inside twenty minutes.
The protected reef of Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park starts a five-minute walk down the shore, which is why this stretch is lined with dive operators. Paradise Beach and Mr. Sancho’s, the two beach clubs most visitors have heard of, are a couple of minutes up the road.

Getting here
Two ways in
Fly into Cozumel (CZM)
Direct flights from Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Chicago, Minneapolis and Toronto, seasonally. From the terminal it is about a 28-minute drive south along the coast road.
Or fly to Cancún and take the ferry
Often cheaper. Cancún airport to Playa del Carmen is about an hour by shuttle or ADO bus, then a 45-minute passenger ferry to Cozumel, then a 20-minute drive to the villa.
Pick up a rental car
Collect at the airport or in town. The coast road is a single, well-paved highway — hard to get lost. There is parking at the villa, inside the gate.
Local questions
About the area
Where is Costa del Sol in Cozumel?
Costa del Sol is a gated community of single-family villas on Cozumel’s south-west coast, on the Carretera Costera Sur about 20 minutes south of San Miguel de Cozumel and roughly 28 minutes from the airport. It sits directly on the shore, between the Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park and the Paradise Beach stretch.
Is the south side of Cozumel a good place to stay?
It is the quiet side. You trade walking distance to restaurants and bars for a swimmable reef at your door, far less cruise-ship traffic and much darker skies at night. Most of the island’s best-known beach clubs and dive sites are along this coast, and town is a short drive when you want it.
Do I need a car to stay at Casa Dana?
We strongly recommend one. The villa is not within walking distance of shops or restaurants, and taxi fares to and from town add up quickly over a week. A small rental car or a Jeep is the normal choice, and there is on-site parking.
How far is the cruise port from the villa?
The Punta Langosta and international cruise terminals are in and just south of San Miguel, roughly 15–20 minutes’ drive north of the villa depending on traffic.
